"This particular kit is okay, but definitely not as engaging or passively educational as similarly priced kits (eg Kiwi Crate)On the plus side the included solar system model is among the better versions available in kid craft kits. Each planet can be painted then assembled on sturdy pins and arms for a model that moves but isn't huge (about the same footprint as a kids globe or normal size basketball). In addition the goggles can be reused with other kits from the company for a slightly discounted price and the app works fairly well.Limitations:- You have to have a phone to use the goggles and need the app loaded. Each kit is registered with a code so it looks unlikely you'll be able to pass this along to a neighbor when your children are finished- The virtual part is very minimal. For this kit you're in a sort of arena and you can spin around to pick different billboards. Once you select it takes you to a short movie that's a bit 3D, think the old holographic, but you don't actually DO anything. The movies themselves are super dry.Punchline: This line of tech has a lot of potential, but in its current state you're tethered to someone's device and the VR part is under developed and boring. Age range to work the tech 7-8ish yrs, entertainment value 5-6yrs?"

"This is a pretty cool learning set. My daughter (14 yo) is really into planets, solar system and space so she enjoyed painting the planets and sun. Some of them were harder to snap together but we were able to get them all together. She also enjoyed lightly sanding the little parts that stick off after popping out them all out.The VR headset is pretty comfortable and is adjustable but could have used more padding around some parts. The app was easy enough to download and did not take a lot of time to download. It is pretty easy to use. The VR experiences were pretty good, some better than others she said. She especially liked the couple that were actually 3D and not just 2D.It is nice to have a model afterward to place in her room and the fact that she made it makes it that much more to her.Overall it is a pretty good set for any kid to learn and have some fun with but would be really great for kids who are into planets and space. The current price point of $39.99 might be a little high for the value you do get, although right now there is a coupon for 15% off and a code for 10% off, so if you can use both together, that would make it a really good value."
"This is a cool project to do with your little ones. It helps them to truly visualize how our solar system works. Our kids had fun painting their preferred planets and building the solar system. It’s nice to have this structure as decor in our playroom. The VR was easy to connect to our phone and really submerged everyone into outer spaces. This makes learning fun!"
"We loved this STEM kit. The Abacus Solar System VR Lab is very user-friendly, so it's and fun for the kids to learn about planets it comes with everything you need and it is a fun project to do with your child as they are learning about the planets and the Galaxy. I find this package to be very informative and yet very entertaining. My kids love the part where they have to paint the planets and they also loved watching the VR part super easy to download the app everything is like ready to go very very fun and informative. Homeschooling can be a boring at times so finding ways to make it fun is a challenge. Very fun and educational."
"This is really cool. Highly recommend as a gift for the ~8 year old in your life. Between the paintable model and the VR, it makes for a substantial and engaging set of activities. The app for the VR was easy to download and log into on an iphone. (The downloading took a few minutes longer than most apps - just prepare to do it ahead of the moment of wanting to use it.) The app does show the other VR experiences that could be unlocked with purchase of other kits, presumably, so be aware that those will be visible but inaccessible, if that will frustrate your kid, but the two options available thrilled mine. For the price, this is an excellent start to a VR experience. The solar system model couldn't be more basic, and doesn't feel so much like a teaching tool as a fun supplement, but we have tried to build orreries from other more sophisticated elementary-age kits that didn't really go together well due to poorly fitting parts, and in contrast, I'll take this simple, easy to build one that moves well over those others."
"Wow this is super cool. It’s a nice learning experience . The VR experience is really nice. My kids loves traveling through the solar system and learning all the interesting facts. The package came with some interesting projects, the solar systems and he VR googles. I would say is a really complete set for solar system, space lovers. The googles were compatible with my iPhone, and i think it is also compatible with android too. The solar system model looks really nice and it came with a set of paints to customized it as you want."
